REFLECTION: INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD
Technology is always beyond the time. As time passed through there are many things that had been invented to make our works easier, faster and effective. Technology is the making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, machinery, and procedures. I still remember, when I was in primary school, the school only provide blackboard and chalk as the tools in class learning. Then, when I entered secondary school, the blackboard had been replaced with the whiteboard but now, with the new technology skill and development, the whiteboard had become the interactive whiteboard (IWB) or smart board.
As first, when I heard about the interactive whiteboard I wonder how it was, is it just a usual whiteboard? But actually it is a large interactive display that connects to a laptop and projector. The projector will project the desktop of the laptop to the board surface where we can control the laptop through the smart board by using a pen or finger. During the first day in Makmal Bestari, the instructor, Miss Suziati bt Ibrahim introduced us to the IWB. I am very excited to learn about the IWB. Firstly, the instructor explained about the features of the IWB. Where the smart board can capture and save notes the we write on the whiteboard to connected laptop, it capture notes that write on a graphics tablet connected to the whiteboard and amazingly we can have online whiteboard. we can control the white board using click and drag, markup from presentation. It also provide with an audience response system so that we can attract the students or audience through quizzes, capture feedback onto the whiteboard. After that, we are given chance to touch the IWB and learn how to calibrate the IWB. At the end of the class, the instructor then ask us work where we need to present our self information by using the IWB.
When I try to use the IWB software, it is quite hard because I am not familiar with this software but when I go through deeply about the features, there are many interesting feature of IWB that really help us in our teaching activities in classroom. I am very sure that students will love the activity and will not be bored.
